Patrick Conyngham is a contemporary artist, poet and writer, born in 1959, living in County Monaghan, Ireland.

“ My work flows between abstraction and semi figuration and I enjoy that dance.”

The techniques used vary; sometimes the image emerges slowly through working in layers and at other times the paintings are very spontaneous. The methods include tonking ( removing of excess applied paint) with various types of paper, scratching with fingers or other tools to create texture, and throwing and flicking of paint. These are carried out in various media, including oils, acrylic, gouache, spray paint, inks, biros, crayons, powdered pigment, varnish, pencils and pastels. Have a look:
